There might be times when you have to call any customer care numbers or also any office number for any purpose maybe, you would have to type in an extension to make a call.
If it is a one-time event that might not cause any trouble but if you frequently have to call these numbers and have to put these extensions manually that is troublesome.
So, in this article, we will cover the steps on how you can type the extension in phone numbers on your iPhone.
How to Dial an Extension on iPhone?
Step 1 – Once you open the Phone app ensure that the Keypad screen is visible.
Step 2 – Dail in the original number you wish to call and Long-press the (*) key until the phone number is followed by a comma (,).
Step 3 – Now dial the extension number after the comma. Also repeat the steps to add additional commas if you want the pause to be longer than two seconds.
Step 4 – Long-press the pound sign (#) until a semicolon (;) appears to add “wait-to-dial.”
Step 5 – Now all you need to do is hit the green call button and you are done.
A few things that you need to keep in mind.
- Once you put ‘pause’ (,) in the phone number the phone app will pause before dialing the extension.
- The phone app will display the extension when you enter a “wait” denoted by a semicolon (;) but won’t automatically dial it. When on a call, all you have to do is dial the “extension number” dial-up button at times when you are unsure of the exact amount of waiting time until the opportunity to input the extension appears, this is useful in some cases.
