Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms have become one of the most important priorities in our day-to-day routine. And, to make our life easier, these platforms introduce very handy features time-to-time.

Instagram, now owned by Facebook, always tries to tie each other so they can support various features among them. For instance, they have come up with the feature of cross-posting Instagram Stories to Facebook.

They have already launched the feature of posting and sharing images (or posts) directly from Instagram to Facebook a long time ago. To use the feature, you have to link your Facebook and Instagram accounts.

At times, your post isn’t published on Facebook even after you select the share button. Although you get a notification that your post has been successfully published, when you visit Facebook, it is not visible on the timeline, or sometimes, you don’t even receive a notification.

If you’re also facing such problems, then keep reading this article as we have listed some of the most common solutions that you can apply right away.

Link your Facebook and Instagram Account Properly

To share your posts and stories from the Instagram app directly to Facebook, you will have to link both the accounts properly. If you’re unable to do so, your posts and stories will not be shared on Facebook.

To link both the accounts, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Open the Instagram app on your mobile phone and navigate to the profile. Once you reach your profile section, click on the three-bar icons in the top-right corner.

Step 2: A menu will pop-up where you have to click on “Settings.”

Step 3: Click on “Account” followed by “Linked Accounts.”

Step 4: Now, you will find a list of various social media platforms. To link your Facebook account, click on “Facebook.”

Step 5: After clicking on Facebook, your Instagram account will be linked to your Facebook account within a matter of seconds. Facebook labels will turn to blue which ensures that your Facebook account is successfully linked to your Instagram account.

Note: Your Facebook personal profile will be a default link to your Instagram account.

Step 6: If you’re linking both the accounts for the first time, then a dialog box will appear asking you “Turn on Facebook sharing?” As soon as you click on “Start Sharing to Facebook,” you will be able to share your photos and videos from Instagram to Facebook.

In case you have multiple Facebook pages, then to select a particular page, go to your profile section and click on “Edit Profile.” After that, under “Business Information,” select the Facebook page where you want to post your Instagram posts.

Log Out from both Instagram & Facebook

Sometimes a simple solution can solve all of your problems. And, we have seen that logging out solves the Instagram and Facebook issues. So, let’s check out how to log out from both apps.

Log out from Instagram

To log out from Instagram, you have to follow these steps.

Step 1: Open the Instagram app and navigate to the profile section. Once your profile section opens, click on three-bar icons in the top-right corner.

Step 2: Select “Settings,” and a menu bar will appear. Scroll down and you will see the option of “Log out.”

Step 3: Click on “Log Out of (your username)” to log out from the Instagram app.

Log out from Facebook

To log out from Instagram, you have to follow these steps.

Open the Facebook app and click on the three-bar icons in the top-right corner. Scroll down and click on “Log out.”

After successfully logging out from both the apps, you will have to login again and perform steps as mentioned in “Link your Instagram and Facebook Account Properly.”

Change your Facebook Password

A corrupted session can also be the reason for the issue of Instagram sharing. To avoid such sessions, you have to change the password of your Facebook account, so that you will be logged out from all other sessions.

To change the password, please follow the steps below.

Step 1: Open the Facebook app, click on the three-bar icons in the top-right corner. Select “Settings” under the “Settings and Privacy” tab.

Step 2: Under the Security menu, click on “Security and Login.” After that, you will find an option of “Change password,” click on it to change your current password.

Once you successfully change your password, you will be automatically logged out from all the apps linked to your Facebook account. Now, log in again and check whether the issue has been resolved or not.

Unlink Facebook from Instagram

Sometimes, when you change the password of your Facebook account, Instagram doesn’t log you out from the Facebook account. Because of this, you will think that the account is linked, but it is not and hence, Instagram will stop sharing posts and stories to Facebook.

So, when you reset your Facebook password, at that time, you should unlink your account from Instagram also. And, link them back again as mentioned in the first solution of the article.

To unlink Facebook accounts from Instagram, you have to open your Instagram app and go to the profile section. Then, click on the three-bar icons in the top-right corner. Navigate to Settings > Accounts > Linked Accounts > Facebook.

Now, select Facebook and click on “Unlink.” After unlinking your Facebook account from Instagram, you will have to link them again so that you can share your posts and stories directly from Instagram to Facebook.

Remove Instagram from Facebook

You can also remove Instagram from linked apps on Facebook. But, you have to be careful as applying this solution will remove all your previous Instagram posts from Facebook.

If you want to try this solution, you can follow the steps below:

• Open Facebook on your PC and click on “down-arrow” in the top-right corner. Then, click on “Settings”.
• Now, select “Apps and Websites” from the left menu bar, and remove Instagram from the apps.

However, you will have to again link your Facebook and Instagram account to check whether the sharing issue is resolved or not.

Clear App Cache

If you’re still having the problem of posting from Instagram to Facebook, then try to clear your app cache from your mobile device. In the case of iPhone, you will have to reinstall the app instead of clearing the cache.

To clear the cache on Android, follow the below steps (you will have to follow steps for Facebook and Instagram separately):

• Go to Settings, and then Apps
• Select Facebook or Instagram
• Click on Storage
• At last, click on clear cache

To reinstall the app on an iPhone, follow the steps below:

• Go to Settings, and then General
• Select iPhone storage
• Select Facebook or Instagram
• Click on Delete App
• Now, reinstall Facebook or Instagram app from the App Store
