When a device like the iPad won’t power on, it could be a nightmare experience, but here the situation is quite opposite. Some iPad users are unable to turn off their devices, and it’s quite strange. It is noticed that this issue is particularly happening with iPad and iPad Air.
Here are possible fixes that will help you to power off your iPad. Mind you, it is important to create a backup on iPad via iCloud or iTunes before performing the fixes. Without further delay, let’s get started.
Reset your iPad
Resetting the iPad has worked for many users, as it clears all the glitches and bugs present on the device. To reset the iPad, users need to do the following.

Step 1: Press and keep holding the Sleep/Wake button & Home Button (or Volume Down button) until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
Step 2: Release the buttons when the Apple logo appears, and allow to boot the device as usual.
Update Your iOS

Make sure that your iOS is updated to the latest version.
Step 1: Visit Settings.
Step 2: Go to Genral.
Step 3: Click on Software Update.
Step 4: If there’s an update available, just update the device.
Check Auto-Lock/Unlock on your iPad
Step 1: Visit Settings > go to General > Auto-lock, if it’s set to “Never”, now try to set on another option such as “1 minute”. The device should turn off on its own after 1 minute of inactivity.
Step 2: In the Genral settings, make sure to turn on “Lock/Unlock” is turned on.
Turn on Airplane Mode
It might possible that your iPad is downloading some of the information which might prevent your iPad to get turn off. So make sure to Turn On the airplane mode so that there will be no information will be downloaded, and then try to turn off your iPad.

Enable AssistiveTouch
Here, we will enable AssistiveTouch for the virtual button to mimic all hardware buttons on the device to power off the iPad.
Step 1: Visit Settings > General > Accessibility> AssistiveTouch: turn ON.
Step 2: tap on screen AssistiveTouch button.
Step 3: Tap Device, tap and hold Lock Screen Until “Slide to power off” appears.
Step 4: just Power Off the device by sliding to OFF.

Note: If you power off the iPad from this method, then you won’t able to power on if the Power button is not working. But you can connect the device to a computer or external charger to power the device back.
Reset Your iPad’s Settings
Resetting your iPad’s setting will not erase your data. This will only reset the device settings to default that consists of passwords, Wi-Fim, Bluetooth, Brightness, Wallpaper, Privacy, etc. Here’s how to do that:
Step 1: Visit Settings.
Step 2: Go to Genral.
Step 3: Tap on Reset > then Reset All Settings.
Put Your iPad into Recovery Mode
Step 1: Open the iTunes and connect the iPad to the PC.
Step 2: Press and hold “Home” and “Power” button for atleast 10-15 seconds.
Step 3: Release the “Power” button but don’t release the “Home” button for at least 5-8 seconds, until the screen goes black. Repeat step 2 if the message appears “Plug into iTunes”.
Step 4: Now, click on “OK” on the popup window which indicates that iTunes has detected the device in Recovery Mode. You can start restoring the iPad.
What if Nothing Wokrs?
If the solutions mentioned above won’t work for you, then try to connect the iPad with iTunes, this will help to restore the device. You can also let the battery down completely then try to connect the device to your computer and launch iTunes.
