Samsung is probably the largest Android OEM in the world, at the moment. From midrange devices to flagship devices, from phones to tablets, the number of devices and variants that Samsung releases every single year is astounding. Most of the Android OEMs release as a single version of the software update to their devices all over the world. For example, OnePlus releases the same update to all OnePlus 7s around the world. That is not the case with Samsung.
Samsung releases a different version of stock firmware for different regions – all for the same device. And why exactly do they do this? We have no idea but we do know how do they do it. They differentiate these devices by the CSC (Country Specific Code) on the Samsung devices. Each of the Samsung devices come with a CSC on them so that Samsung can later identify them based on the CSC and send across the appropriate update to the devices.
If you wish to learn more about CSC and the list of all CSC codes available for Samsung devices, then I recommend reading the below article:
How to find the CSC of a Samsung Devices?
Go to Settings > About phone > Software information. Here, you will find a section named ‘Service provider SW ver.’. Here, you can easily identify the CSC of your device as shown in the below image:
Change CSC on Samsung Galaxy Devices without Root
Please take a complete backup of your device before proceeding. Changing CSC will completely wipe all the data on your device including your photos, videos, messages – everything will be wiped.
- Open your phone dialer app on your Samsung Galaxy and type in ‘*#06#‘. Now, the IMEI number of your device will appear on the screen. Make a note of it.
- Go back to the dialer app again and then type in the below code:
*#272*YOUR-IMEI-NUMBER#
- Once you type in the above code, you will be shown a list of CSC available for you to choose from.
- Tap on the CSC you want to install and then press the Install button to change the CSC.
- Now your phone will reboot automatically.
Now you have successfully changed the CSC on your Samsung Galaxy device.

2. Without root
*It will come next monthly update what..
Please answer me ????
Hi, thanks for the post….
When I do *#272*YOUR-IMEI-NUMBER#, I have the massage “UNKNOWN APPLICATION”
Do you know why ? Thanks for your answer 🙂
Raphael – Sorry, I have no idea why. May be some of the codes are device-specific or blocked by carrier or discontinued.
Same here
+1
My phone don’t have service so it won’t sent the code. What do I do next.
After Android 11 update, *#272*YOUR-IMEI-NUMBER# doesn’t work anymore
me, too
SM-G998N model doesn’t work T.T (Initial firmware)
Mine too , SM-G998B not working. Hopefully SAMKEY will get updated for S21 Ultra !
It does not work on 5G devices
works for me. like a charm.
Can confirm this works, thanks!
After changing CSC, It still asks for unlock code. what to do?
I did it and it worked form TPA to BTU, but now if I want to go back, it does not work any longer. Why?
What is the error/issue that you are facing?
Gives service code not supported
I can see on you screenshot that you have a dual sim. Which one should I use? I have tried both IMEI´s and most CSC codes have the word “single” after the country code and the ones that do not say “single” issue a warning “selected code or current code is Single. Only Sales&Network Code Change is available”
vishnuve.. ee method 2021 security updetes muthal available alla.. so this post is useless.. pls remove.. works only on android 10
Thanks for the info, Bijoy! I’ll update it! 🙂
my country code is not on the list – what do I do now?
What is your country?
Hi there. I’ve note 8 from United Arab Emirates though I use it in Tanzania – East Africa. It’s also rooted (not by me)
I want to unroot and flash stock rom but I’m confused about it’s CSC. Through *#2234# it shows this AP: N950FXXS5DSC6 but through software information (network provider) it shows SAOMV_SM-N950F_hades_XSG_PP_0006.
Now which is which? I really need to flash stock rom so I can get the latest updates on my galaxy note 8 as currently I’m unable to so since software updates is inactive.
Thanks in advance.
Steve
