  1. I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 SMG900A from AT&T, which is equipped with Android Operating System 6.0.1 Marshmallow. And, my settings and quick settings menus do not look like the ones shown in the examples in the directions I find in Google. My phone has the white settings menu.
And, when I attempt to pull down the full quick settings, the gear icon is inaccessible, and replaced with the pencil edit icon. If I tap the gear icon, my settings menu opens. If I hold my finger on the gear icon nothing happens. And, yes I do have access to the developer options in the settings. But, there is nothing that gives me access to the system UI tuner. And, I am not about to try rooting this phone. Not sure what to do about this. But, the directions to this procedure do not work with this particular phone, unless there is something I am missing. Could there be a missing step which was edited out perhaps?
