Mind you, Bonjour Service is not a virus or any malware data file, and it is completely safe to have on your system. Bonjour Service is related to the Bonjour Application which is developed and designed by Apple Inc. You will get to see this service built-in with Apple’s OS X and iOS operating systems. Bonjour Service will help you to discover and connect to the Apple devices with each other over the same local area network. Moreover, the file is originally called Apple Rendezvous which runs in the background and other applications and the programs use it to make a communication that allows a user to set up a network without worrying about the complex configurations known as zeroconfig (zero-configuration) network.

Here, we suggest you use this service only when you use an Apple device, Adobe Creative Suite, and Dassault System’s Solidworks on your Windows 10 operating system which needs Bonjour Service to run as it supposes to be. Else, you can disable to turn off the Bonjour Service without having any trouble.

Turn Off Bounjour Service on Windows 10

Here, we will just turn off the Bonjour Service and not removing it completely from the Windows 10 PC. Here’s how to turn off the service:

Step 1: Press Windows + R to open the Run box.

Step 2: Type services.msc in the Run box and press OK.

Step 3: The Services windows will open up showing you all the stopped and running services of the Window 10 operating system. Scroll down and search Bonjour Service and do a right-click and select Properties.

Step 4: In the Properties tab, just select the Stop button under Service status.

Step 5: Also, keep Startup type to Disable, click on Apply, and Ok.

Now the Bonjour service will not turn on or enable on its own, but you can enable it whenever you need it.

How to Uninstall Bonjour Service from Windows 10 PC?

Uninstalling or removing the Bonjour Service from your PC is easy, this can be done by using Control Panel.

Step 1: Visit the Start menu and open Settings.

Step 2: Type Control Panel, and open it.

Step 3: In the search bar of the Control Panel, type Programs, and Features and open it.

Step 4: Under the Programs and Features window, search Bonjour app.

Step 5: Do a right-click on the Bonjour app and select Uninstall.

Step 6: A prompt will appear asking you whether to uninstall Bonjour or not, just press Yes.

Also, we need to remove the unwanted file related to Bonjour programs that are left behind on your computer after you uninstall any program or an application.

Step 7: Open Windows File Explorer or press Windows + E to open it.

Step 8: Visit C:\Program Files\Bonjour path.

Step 9: Delete the whole folder or the files present in the folder.

Step 10: A prompt will appear asking you to restart your PC, just restart your PC.

And the files will get removed completely after a restart, but if any pop-up windows continue to appear even after a restart then follow the steps mentioned below where we will use Command Prompt.

1. Do a right click on the Start menu and open Command Prompt (Admin).
2. In the Command Prompt window,  type the address (\Program Files\Bonjour) and press enter.
3. Type mDNResponder.exe -remove and press enter to execute the command line.
4. Once done, you should be able to see confirmation message Removed Service.

Alternate Method to remove Bonjour

• Type the following command into the Command Prompt
  • ““%PROGRAMFILES%\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe” -remove
• Unregister the mdnsNSP.dll file by typing the following command
  • regsvr32 /u “%PROGRAMFILES%\Bonjour\mdnsNSP.dll”
• Now restrat your system.
