Before turning on automatic login, we need to turn off FileVault which helps to protect your data. Here’s how to do that:

Step 1: Visit System Preferences and go to User & Groups.

Step 2: Click to lock and enter your administrator password.

Step 3: Click on Login Options > open the Automatic Login drop-down menu.

Step 4: Choose account from the list, and enter the password.

Disable Login Password on Mac when Waking Up

In order to conserve power, Mac goes to sleep if there’s any inactivity. As a result, you have to enter the password every time on Mac waking up. Here’s how to disable the login password on Mac when waking up.

Step 1: Visit System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Genral.

Step 2: Click to lock and enter your administrator password, if needed.

Step 3: Untick Disble automatic login.

Step 4: Select usename under drop-down, for Automatic log in as:

Step 6: Untick the Required password box.

Step 7: Enter Mac administrator password.

Step 8: Select Turn off Screen Lock or choose a time period.

Disable Login Password on Mac when Switching Users

Mind you, Mac doesn’t allow us to remove the need for entering the password, but we can choose to keep the password blank. You can just press enter when asked for a password. Also, many users notice that it is unable to keep a blank password using MacBook, and macOS High Sierra, and above, if you do, the warning appears as “the password is empty”.

Step 3: Click on your username from the left, and select Change Password.

Step 4: Enter the Old password, but don’t fill New Passoword.

Step 5: Click on Change Password, and agree to have blank password.
