Annoyed by the weather updates/weather alerts from Google now every day? Well, me too. But there are people who prefer to get weather updates on the phones especially those who have to travel a lot for work or if the place you live in has rather unpredictable weather conditions all throughout the year.
But ff you live in a region where weather the weather is kind-of stable through a period of time, then it does not make any sense to have the weather alerts active on your device. The problem at hand here is Google Now. Every Android device comes with Google Search app pre-installed which in-turn has Google Now enabled. Google Now by default sends you weather alerts throughout the day; whether you actually need it or not.
There is also another way by which a user can get weather alerts: Google Assistant. But unlike Google Now, Google Assistant doesn’t send alerts without being asked to. You might have activated it long back and could have forgotten about it completely. Worry not for we have a way to disable Google Assistant weather alerts as well.
If your Android device is relatively new, then you should follow the second approach with “Google Assistant”. And if your device is older, say pre-2019, you might want to check the first method.
Turn Off Google Now Weather Alerts
Fortunately, it is very easy to turn-off the Weather card from Google Now. Simply open the Google app on your device, and see if there is a weather card available on the app. If yes, tap the 3-dot menu on the upper right corner of the card and select “Never show weather updates”.
If you do not have a weather card available, you can easily disable it from the ‘Now cards’ section in the settings. Open Google app > go to “Settings” (from left slide-in panel) > select “Now cards” > scroll down a bit and turn off the “Weather” toggle.
And you are done. From now on, you will not receive any weather alerts on your Android device from Google Now.
Turn Off Weather Alerts from Google Assistant
To turn off Google assistant weather alerts, follow the below steps:
- Open Google Assistant by saying ‘Ok Google’ or ‘Hey Google’. If your device comes with a dedicated Google Assistant hardware key, you can use it as well.
- Once Google Assistant opens, ask this to it: “Show my subscriptions“. You can also type in the inputs.
- Once your subscriptions are shown, tap on it and then tap on ‘Cancel the subscription‘.
And that will be all. This is how you can disable weather alerts on Android.
Are you still getting weather alerts?
Even after following the above steps, if you are getting the weather alert, then they should be from any 3rd party app installed on your device. Check for any weather apps and if there are none, then carefully investigate your recently installed apps. Some apps send misleading notifications to capture the user’s attention. You can also find which app sent the weather notification by long-pressing the notification when it arrives.
