Web Browsers are one of the most important parts of today’s connected world. For every search and research, we need a browser. Every day we browse through a lot of different websites, and often these websites tend to store data locally on your computer. As these locally stored data helps the website to load faster the next time whenever you open the same website. it also helps them keeping track of the preferences you have chosen inside the website which helps the website to give you a personalized experience curated just for you. The more you browse the more data is stored in the computer, which with time can cause conflicts and might give you error in loading the websites, or simply doesn’t behave the way it should.
Almost all of the websites that you visit stores two different types of data locally on your computer.
Cookies and other site data- You all must have heard the term cookies, basically, these files include information used by the websites to function normally, track your activity on a particular website, serve personalized ads and experience, and much more. So deleting cookies could cause you to lose your browsing preferences and that tailored experience created for you will be gone, and the website will start to learn and build from fresh. Deleting cookies will also log you out of the website and end any active session going on.
Cached Images and Files – The second thing which the websites store locally on our computers are the cache files. These are the web resources that are saved on our computers, basically, the images which we see when we visit websites, so whenever we visit the same website again they don’t need to re-download or reload the images again and again, it simply keeps it locally for faster loading of the page and less consumption of data. Most of the cache files are those files that are the static files from the website which doesn’t update that frequently.
For most browsers, it is very easy to find the setting or option to clear the cookies and caches within a single click. However, doing so will clear the cache and cookies across the browser which means it will clear the caches for every website which you have visited until now and not any particular website. Deleting all of the data for every website isn’t a convenient way of practising and it may lead to malfunctioning of few websites or slow loading times. Not only that, but it will also terminate all the active sessions from any website and will log you out from every website where you have signed in.
So, instead of clearing all of the data with a single click, we can choose a particular website for whom we want to clear the data like cookie files and cache files and then clear for that particular website only. So here is a guide to clear data of a specific website and not for the whole browser, we will be covering it for the browsers like Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge and other Chromium-based browsers.
