Personal mobile hotspots are very much helpful and often a saviour at times when you don’t have internet, or if you want to use your mobile data on your laptop.
However, often iPhone rushes into turning off the hotspot, or you might have experienced sudden disconnection of your device from the hotspots which are created by your iPhone.
So, if you are one of those users who are facing issues like automatically turning off of hotspot or your devices are being disconnected to the wifi network of your iPhone, then below we have some troubleshooting steps through which you can go through to fix.
Check Data Usage
if you are running on a monthly limited plan of your carrier and you have set the limit in the mobile data usage option. then it could be one of the reasons why your hotspots are getting turned off. So, go to the data usage section of your iPhone and check the data usage and its limit. If you have reached the limit, then your iPhone might be turning off your hotspots to save the data usage.
You can check the personal hotspot data usage from the Settings > Mobile Data menu. You will get a detailed breakdown of data consumed by each device. You might need an additional data plan to use the personal mobile hotspot on your other devices.
Disable low Data Mode
Apple also gives an option to its users where users can enable low data mode, in this all of the unnecessary or extra usage of mobile data is blocked.
For instance, all of the apps that use background sync using mobile data will be blocked and only be synced when you are connected to Wifi. In some cases, the OS also blocks the phone from turning on the mobile hotspot as it might consume more data, and that can lead to an increase in the monthly bill plan.
If you find that your iPhone is running on low data mode, then you can follow through the steps to disable low data mode, after which you will be able to turn on the mobile hotspot of your iPhone without any trouble.
- Go to the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Click on Mobile data and then select your main sim or the sim from which you use the internet.
- Inside you will be able to see that low data mode is enabled, find it and disable the toggle.
Reconnect Hotspot Connection
Whichever device you are using to connect the hotspot of your iPhone be it a Mac or a PC, try to forget the currently commented iPhone’s hotspots and then try to reconnect it by entering the password again.
To check the password of your iPhone’s mobile hotspot you can go to Settings > Personal Hotspot and inside that you will be able to see the password for your iPhone’s hotspots. You can also change the password of your hotspot from the same menu.
Keep Personal Hotspot Screen On
If you are using your iPhone on beta builds of iOS, then it is recommended to try and keep the hotspot menu open and try to keep the screen of the iPhone turned on all the time while using the hotspot.
This temporary solution might work for you while using a hotspot with your Mac or Pc, but on the other hand, it will consume more battery of your iPhone, since the screen is turned on all the time. The best solution to this would be to connect your iPhone to a power socket during the whole time so that your iPhone doesn’t lose battery.
Disabling Low Power Mode
Apple-designed low power mode on iPhones to increase the battery life of the phones. When low power mode is enabled on your iPhone it turns off certain features like background app updates, background sync, and it turns off the mobile hotspot as well since the hotspot consumes a lot of battery.
You might need to disable low power mode to enable the mobile hotspot on your device. So, keeping your iPhone in low power mode will result in disconnection of mobile hotspot quite frequently, so the best solution to this would be to temporarily disable low power mode and use the mobile hotspot, and once you are done with the mobile hotspot, you can then enable low power mode once again.
To disable the low power mode on your iPhone, go to the settings app and then head to Battery options. Inside that, you will be able to see low power mode, just turn off the toggle and then you can try turning on the mobile hotspot it should work just fine.

If that’s the case, then Apple surely must have released an update of iOS with a fix to such an issue. So, try and check for the updates on your iPhone.
