How to Change Your Game Status on Discord

If you spend most of your time playing online games, then you should familiarize yourself with Discord. It has been designed and introduced in such a way so that players can communicate with each other while playing games.

The Discord app is available for both desktops as well as mobile platforms. Communication is established between players through a powerful server that provides smooth execution.

From the experts’ point of view, Discord is a Voice over IP (VoIP) application that enhances your gaming experience. Whether you are playing PUBG, Minecraft, Fortnite, or any other games, this app helps you to communicate with your friends seamlessly.

Apart from chatting apps, Discord also allows you to watch what games your friends are playing on their desktop. You can view it manually or through clients like Steam. Although, the popularity of Discord among online gamers is due to its latency-free calls.

Discord app comes with another feature, i.e., Custom Online Status, that allows other players to see what games you are playing and whether you are available or not on the app. It has a list of verified games that it supports, that means whenever you run a specific game, it shows up that activity in the task manager.

For instance, you come online and start playing PUBG, at that moment, Discord will automatically detect it and change your game status accordingly.

Not all games are verified on Discord, which means it will not detect that activity, and your game status will remain unchanged. That’s why there is a need to change your game status manually for unverified games.

However, changing the game status in the Discord app is a bit tricky. In this article, we will see how you can change your playing status on the Discord app.

Online Status Options on Discord

Discord has four online status message options available for every other chat platform, that are:

  • Online: When you are playing games and communicating with your friends. You will see a green light beside your Avatar.
  • Idle: When you are not near the desktop. It shows AFK (Away from Keyboard) for a certain period of time.
  • Do Not Disturb: When you don’t want to get any notifications. A red circle beside your Avatar will appear.
  • Invisible: You can access the Discord app keeping your status offline.

Change Verified Game Status in Discord

Discord doesn’t allow you to control the verified games in their database, but it allows you to influence how it works. The discord app looks in the task manager to check which process is currently running, however, you can add another process manually and display the world what you want to instead of what game you are playing.

For example, if you are playing PUBG and you don’t want your friends to know, then open your game in the background as an unverified program and add it to the list. After the Discord detects that and shows it in the task manager, change the name of the process, so that it displays what you want, instead of the program you are running.

If you want to get things done effortlessly, then use Notepad++ as it is a useful program that uses very few system resources and is unverified in the Discord.

You have to just run Notepad++ in the background and wait till the Discord recognizes it. After that, type the custom message you want to display. Once you write the message, you can start playing the game you want to play.
